IPad Rollout in SMGS for 1st and 2nd Yrs 2025/26

As part of our commitment to providing the highest standard of education and preparing our students for a rapidly changing world, we are introducing iPads as a core learning tool for all incoming 1st Year students and current 1st Years from the

beginning of the next academic year. To provide more information and address any questions you may have, it is essential that you attend a parent information meeting in the school on Thursday, 3 rd April at 7pm

The introduction of iPads is not simply about keeping pace with technology—it is about equipping our students with the skills, values, and habits they need to thrive in a fast-changing, digital world. As part of our holistic approach to education in SMGS,

we are constantly seeking to improve the educational experience for all of our students and ensuring that we offer an experience that is fit for purpose in this rapidly evolving world.

With technology playing a greater role in both education and everyday life, it is essential that our students learn to navigate the digital world in a safe, structured, and educationally enriching way. These devices will support learning in the classroom while also fostering creativity, collaboration, and independence. As part of our commitment to safeguarding students in the digital age, all devices will be managed by Wriggle, a leading provider of educational technology solutions. This ensures that the school maintains control over apps, content, and internet access, providing a secure and focused digital learning environment.

We are fully aware of the potential challenges that technology can bring, and this is why digital safety and responsible use are at the heart of this initiative. Our aim is to help students grow into confident and ethical digital citizens while protecting them as much as possible from the negative influences of the online world. This iPad rollout reflects our broader vision of education—one that goes beyond academic excellence to support the whole student in becoming resilient, well-rounded, and future-ready.

We strongly encourage all parents and guardians to attend this important meeting.Your partnership and engagement are vital to the success of this initiative and your child’s educational journey. We look forward to seeing you there.

Yours sincerely,

Padraig Sheehan
