SMGS Soccer Update
The boys soccer teams have enjoyed success since the October midterm.
The U19 team played against a very strong Davis College team. The players had to defend manfully for large periods, and thanks to a sensational performance from Josh Lombardi, who scored 2 solo goals and set up another, ended up winning 3-2. The next round is due to be played on Dec 5th versus Agus Ide from Newcastle West.
The U15 team had an easy win in their first round, beating Skibereen 9-1. However, a difficult second round match against Kinsale followed, where either side could have won. A great performance from Charlie Sewell in goal kept Blarney’s goal in tact, and a Conor Nolan finish with 5 minutes to go meant we qualified for the next round, to be played in a January.
Congratulations to all the boys for their efforts.
