SMGS Senior Hurlers march on to Munster Final

Our senior hurlers had an excellent hard fought win in the Munster Semi Final against near neighbours Carrignavar in Grenagh today. SMGS started well with Dan Twomey scoring a few excellent points. Joey O’ Dwyer and Ted Twomey worked tirelessly in midfield while the defence led by Chulainn Gough, Craig Walsh and Paul Aherne kept Carrig at bay. Luke Kendellen got a lucky goal and Dan Twomey followed with an excellent run and finish to give SMGS a commanding 2-5 to 0-2 lead at half time.

Points by Felix Murphy, a few frees from Dan Twomey and a fine effort from Cathal McCarthy had SMGS in a commanding position in the second half. Kendellen made the game safe with a well taken goal following an excellent ball by Joey O Dwyer and Dan Twomey finished off the scoring with another goal. Well done to all the panel.
