Senior Hurling Update
SMGS senior hurlers exited the Munster Colleges today despite an excellent performance in Mallow.
Massive underdogs going into the game, against a Kanturk team playing in the A Colleges in Cork, SMGS took the game to the opposition right from the start. All the backs were excellent in the first half with Jack O Keeffe getting a great goal after super work from centre forward Stephen Mullane. Micheal O Riordan was a constant threat in the corner and caused his marker huge problems. SMGS went in at the break 5 points down on a score line of 1-4 to 0-12.
In the second half SMGS took the game to Kanturk and out scored the opposition by 8 points to 5 with Patrick Buckley, Ben Ahern and Jack O Keeffe scoring excellent points.
Unfortunately SMGS ran out of time and were beaten on a score line of 1-12 to 0-17. Excellent performances all round for SMGS and each player should be hugely proud of the performance.
