Blarney lads dominate in Waterford
SMGS U19 squad had a comprehensive win on the road today when they travelled to Waterpark RFC to take on Waterpark College in the QF of the O’Brien Cup.
Taking the game to the home side, SMGS got off the mark with two early tries by Rob O Gorman and John Costello, both converted by Eoin O’Leary. A further penalty gave the SMGS lads a 17-0 lead before the home side touched down on half time.
The 2nd half belonged to SMGS who put the game to bed early on with 2 quick tries by Costello again and Adam O ‘ Brien who touched down for his first of five tries. Yes 5 ! Further tries were also scored by Ruairi Dennehy (2) Though the home side put up some resistance, our lads were on the front foot until the final whistle and Waterpark found it difficult to get their hands on the ball.
Notable was the work rate of the likes of Cian Walsh, Aidan Linehan, and Charles Sewell on the wing. A huge effort put in by all the squad. Not all the squad are club based rugby players but the team display today and the winning attitude was fantastic to watch. Congrats to all.
