Girls Basketball Update

🏀1st and 2nd years played their final pool games on Tuesday against St. Als.

🏀 1st years showed great energy in the first half of the match which didn't reflect the score with 8 baskets down. However, girls applied better defence tactics in the 3rd and 4th quarter from Tessa Ramos, Zara Mason, Holly Kavanagh, Konstantina Fagas and Kate Lynch and this made all the difference! A total of 15 baskets came from Ali O Mahony, Katie O Connell, Brígh Mc Cluskey and Aoife Reeves! Unfortunately 1st years are finished in the competition but played a fantastic game to compkete their year winning 31-24 ! 🏀

🏀 2nd years came into the match knowing they had to win to go further and win they did! From the beginning of the match, the girls played aggressively scoring many baskets in the 1st and 2nd quarter. At times St Als looked strong but great pressure from Roisin Foley, Ella Wren, Ellen Callagahan, Muireann Dennehy and Kate Lynch made all the difference!! Bríd Murphy scored an amazing 9 baskets and others from Sarah Mulcahy, Ali O Mahony, Allie O Connell gave a final win of 39 - 22! 🏀

The girls played so well with each other that nearly every player scored a basket which shows the unity and courage within the team! Keep this up girls for the semi finals next week! 🎉
