SMGS Girls Basketball qualify for the All Ireland Final

A massive congratulations to the 2nd year girls basketball team who won the All Ireland Quarter Final and Semi final in Oblate Hall in Dublin today.

The girls played a blinder against a strong Kerry team in the quarter final. Coming into the fourth quarter Blarney was ahead by a fraction. In the last ten seconds Rathmore scored a 3 pointer putting our girls under pressure with a score of 45-46 to Rathmore. Blarney called a time out with 2 seconds to go to sort out our game plan and with 0.3 seconds left in the match Michelle Ugwah scored a basket resulting in a 1 point lead for Blarney to win the match. (47-46)

The semi final was another exciting match against Castleisland CC. Blarney played their best and took the lead for all 4 quarters. Despite our fouls, we managed to secure a win with a final score of 39-34.

We are all very proud of our girls and wish them the best of luck in the final in the NBA on Monday 29th of April! We can do it girls! 💪🏼🏀
