Leaving Cert Class of 2020

The Scoil Mhuire gan Smál Leaving Cert class of 2020 will never be forgotten. Like every other school in the country, the unique circumstances in which this year finished, and in which the students graduated, has been bittersweet. And social distancing has meant that we are unable to follow through with the normal course of events that every sixth year group has experienced until now - planning a debs, creating a yearbook, organising a mass, all the rituals of the last day in secondary school have been lost.

However it is important to recognise that it is in the greater good, and hopefully there will be a time again when we are all in the same room and have the chance to say our individual goodbyes. Like every other group that has completed secondary school down through the years, all the members of staff - the management, teachers, SNAs, secretaries and ancillary staff - will all have their individual memories of the students who make up our graduation class this year, but we all have in common a wish for each of you to have a happy, successful, fulfilling life.

Congratulations on your many accomplishments, and for your victories over the challenges that you have faced. We would like to take the opportunity to thank your parents for lending you to us for the last six years and as you move on to whatever life has in store for you, don’t forget that every day is a new opportunity to learn, and to share what you already know.
Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119:105)

Wishing nothing but very best of good fortune to all the class of 2020. On the day, that should have been the Class of 2020’s graduation day, we would like to invite you to take a trip down memory lane with a montage of the good times spent in SMGS over the past six years.
