Gold medal for Chris Crean McCarthy.

Christopher McCarthy, twin brother of Olympian Sean McCarthy, made Irish Karate History yesterday by being the first Irish Karate Athlete to win  a European Gold Medal.

Chris now holds a World Bronze Medal (Croatia 2017) and a European gold, while his brother Sean set new heights last year in 2018 by winning a European Silver Medal in Sochi in February followed by an Olympic Bronze in Buenos Aires in October at the Youth Olympic Games.

Both boys are a credit to their Coach Stephen O’Callaghan of Cloghroe Karate Club who is now Ireland’s most successful Karate coach ever.
